Adding A Personal Touch To Your Wedding Ceremony

The beauty of hiring a civil celebrant to conduct your wedding ceremony is getting to choose your venue.

"There are so many gorgeous settings in this area whether it's a beach, garden, park or somewhere with a beautiful view," Civil Marriage Celebrant Lorraine Lehman-Jones said.

"I can confidently promise you a professional, well written and conducted ceremony that will be intimate, personal and modern."

Lorraine hopes her trademark will be in individual ceremonies, which can be written by her or in conjunction with the couple.

"I like to ask each couple what they most admire and respect about each other and work that into the ceremony," Lorraine said. "I also encourage couples to write their own vows."

"I give you a complete choice with your ceremony. I am there to help guide you and make sure you are aware of all your options."

The celebrant also likes to involve children in the ceremony of second marriages because statistically they exist in large numbers and need to be recognised and welcomed into the union.

Lorraine will sit down with the couple a few months before the wedding to discuss their requirements and make sure they feel comfortable with her.

They also need to complete a 'notice of intention of marriage' at least one month and one day before the wedding.

While Lorraine was only inducted into marriage celebrancy this April, she had been working as a civil celebrant since July 2001. She completed a Diploma in Wedding Celebrancy with the International College of Celebrancy and graduated with high distinction.

"I waited for almost a decade to fulfil my ambition of becoming a wedding celebrant. I have now performed eight weddings and each one has gone off without a hitch," Lorraine said.
